  • Perhaps the worst environmental disaster in this country was the wiping out of the Passenger Pigeon. Considered the most abundant bird in the world (estimated 4 BILLION STRONG) we now only have stuffed birds in various museums. This native bird onced roamed over the entire central and eastern US.
